Kind of Pop

An acoustic jazz combo (accordion, bass, drums) featuring guest musicians.

Wherein we apply Kind of Blue theory to popular music (pop/r&b/rock) by extending the harmony and improvising using the modal allocation system developed by George Russell and Miles Davis.

This is my favorite book for jazz standards. The Real Books are great too. For early jazz I like The Firehouse book.

I'm learning some of the great Django Reinhardt songs jamming with my friends who play Macaferri. Coquette, Viper's Dream, Django's Cloud... j'aime!

For the popular genres I've made lead sheets for everything, compiled into two homemade fakebooks. This includes music from all decades of the last fifty years, however most of the songs are 1980's Pop.
